Professional Association Bylaws and Codes
There may be provisions relating to the collection, protection or release of personal information in the bylaws or ethics of professional associations. All of these provisions are subject to privacy legislation.
Employees of a board of education must adhere to the provisions of LAFOIP. If there is a conflict with the professional association’s bylaws or codes, the employee must still comply with LAFOIP.
In circumstances where there is an unusual fact situation or potentially conflicting legislation it is recommended to seek legal counsel.
