Mobile Devices
Mobile devices such as laptops, memory sticks and smartphones can store or access a great deal of personal information. The information is more vulnerable to both physical theft and inappropriate access.
Acceptable use policies can set guidelines for the use of such devices by employees, including what types of data can be stored on or accessed from such devices.
The Office of the Saskatchewan Information and Privacy Commissioner has prepared a guide to security for mobile devices. The guide, Best Practices: Mobile Device Security, provides a great deal of practical information as well as best practices for data limitation, passwords, encryption and authentication as well as for physical security.
